VINTAGE 2012: COMPETITION

VINTAGE 2012

Vintage 2012 - The nose is fruity, gourmand, relatively full and offers a slight freshness. It reveals notes of plum cream and crushed boysenberry associated with slight hints of black cherry, liquorices as well as a discreet hint of toasted oak/chocolate hint and a very discreet hint of thyme (after aeration on the glass). The palate is fruity, mineral, tight, fresh, sleek and offers a slight tension, a slight suavity as well as fat. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of plum, crushed blackberry, black cherry and slight notes of cho¬colate associated with slight hints of zan as well as a discreet hint of clove. Tannins are well-built. Good length. There are slight touches of dark chocolate on the persistence.

Vintage 2012:

Vintage 2011: Concentrated, mature garnet. Empyreumatic nose of smoke, garrigue, condiments and sun-ripened fruit. Inviting, warm palate where powerfulness is restrained by aromatic freshness on the finish. A classic, sound wine.

Vintage 2011

Vintage 2012- Bright ruby-red. Ripe and expressive on the nose, displaying deeply pitched black and blue fruit aromas and a hint of cracked pepper. Broad, sappy and smoky in the mouth, offering sweet blackberry and cola flavors with a hint of spicecake. The blackberry note resonates on the smooth, clinging, seemingly tannin-free finish. This assertively fruity wine would be a good ringer in a blind flight of New World Grenache-based bottlings.

Vintage 2010 - Video

vintage 2010 A classical Gigondas, that has an overall elegant, yet complex profile, the 2010 Château du Trignon (a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault) offers clean, pure aromas of garrigue, wild flowers, black tea, and mineral-laced red and black fruits. Silky and polished on the palate, with a medium-bodied feel and the hallmark fine, sweet tannin of the vintage, this builds in the glass, yet always stays classy and fine. It will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age, and shine for 7-8 years or so. (september 2012)

Vintage 2010 Bright ruby-red. A complex bouquet displays scents of fresh red berries, spicecake and underbrush. Lively and precise, offering silky raspberry and cherry flavors underscored by juicy acidity and a hint of floral pastille. Seamless and impressively persistent on the finish, which echoes the red fruit note.

vintage 2012 - (vat/casks - tasted on december 2013) dark red, purple. Has a warm, soaked fruits and garrigue make-up on the nose, a plump aroma of local richness, a strike of licorice. The palate starts on discreetly muscular, packed red fruit that delivers baked notes late on, the fruit compressed there. Very young, and quite forceful from within. Late salty notes liven it. Solid quality Gigondas. From 2016. 2026-27

Vintage 2011 - Along the same lines, quality wise, the 2011 Gigondas Chateau Du Trignon is an upfront, fruit loaded and medium-bodied effort that gives up loads of earthy dark fruit, licorice and roasted meat-like qualities. Enjoy it over the coming 4-5 years.

Vintage 2011 Deep ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries and Asian spices. Offers ripe strawberry and raspberry flavors with bright acidity emphasizing the vivid red fruit. Gains flesh and weight with air but maintains a suave, lithe character. Approachable and emphatically fruity, finishing with nervy cut and spicy persistence.
