CHATEAU DU TRIGNON

COTES DU RHONE VILLAGES SABLET 2010

87-89 POINTS « very good »

The 2010 Château du Trignon Côtes du Rhöne Villages Sablet is a blend Grenache and Mourvedre that was still in tank at the time of tasting. Showing quality, traditional aromas of licorice, garrigue, pepper, and spice, as well as a medium-bodied, supple texture and a clean finish, this solid effort opens up in the glass, has plenty of character, and will shine for 4-5years.

VACQUEYRAS 2010

90 POINTS « outstanding »

Showing outstanding potential, the 2010 Famille Quiot Vacqueyras Château du Trignon is a beautiful blend of Grenache and Syrah that is aged 90% in concrete and 10% in smaller barrels for a year. Tight, and slightly reserved, yet also classy and still showing beautiful, it possesses quality black cherry, leather, licorice, flowers, and hints of herbs to go with a medium-bodied, balanced, and juicy palate. Very well made and showing plenty of ripe tannin, it should shine for just under a decade.

GIGONDAS 2010

90 POINTS « outstanding »

A classical Gigondas, that has an overall elegant, yet complex profile, the 2010 Château du Trignon (a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault) offers clean, pure aromas of garrigue, wild flowers, black tea, and mineral-laced red and black fruits. Silky and polished on the palate, with a medium-bodied feel and the hallmark fine, sweet tannin of the vintage, this builds in the glass, yet always stays classy and fine. It will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age, and shine for 7-8 years or so.

RASTEAU 2010

85 POINTS « good »

A surprisingly easygoing, quaffable effort, the 2010 Château du Trignon Rasteau, a blend of Grenache and Mourvedre that's aged in vat and foudre, displays moderate aromas of red and black fruits, licorice, and mineral, as well a medium-bodied, clean and well mouth feel. Not much depth or complexity here, yet it is enjoyable and should drink well for 3-4 years

A blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre that is aged 90% in foudre and 10% in smaller barrels, the 2010 Jerome Quiot is elegant, finesse-driven 2010 that has a sweet perfume of spice, spring flowers, and assorted berry-like fruit.
